Indian Rebellion of 1857 Begins in Delhi

The First Machine Gun Invented

On 16 May 1718, James Puckle, an English inventor, patented the world’s first machine gun. This firearm, known as the Puckle Gun, was a revolutionary invention capable of firing multiple rounds per minute.

The Puckle Gun used a flintlock mechanism and featured a revolving cylinder that could hold multiple rounds, making it an early precursor to modern machine guns. Although it never saw widespread use in military conflicts, Puckle’s invention laid the groundwork for future advancements in firearms technology.
